According to the customs statistics, imports from  non-CIS countries reached $172,336 billion in January-September 2008 and rose 49,3 percent as compared to the same period of 2007.   In September 2008, commodity imports from countries outside the CIS  were $21,4 billion, which is 51,7 percent more than in September 2007. Engineering products import increased by 58,7 percent.
