Oil and gas companies work on leasing basis with affiliated firms |
Roman Romanovsky (Expert RA) has published an article on oil and gas equipment leasing in Kommersant daily that says, “Oil and gas companies continue to work with their leasing subsidiaries that were established for special transactions. “Leasing firms providing equipment to the oil and gas industry are captive companies focused on equipment supply to certain groups of companies”, says Larisa Efimova, partner of “BDO Unikon”. It is hard for other lessors to win equipment supply tenders. If you look at leasing company rankings, you will not see there captive companies from these industries. Such lessors do not provide their information for analysis because they have no need in PR – they will get their volume of orders anyway. In case of financial problems an affiliated firm can wait for next leasing payments whereas an independent lesser may choose to go to court. It is clear that the specific character of this equipment segment will determine future domination of a relatively narrow range of large leasing companies”.
