Brilliant prospects of Vyborg Shipyard |
In June 2008, the general meeting of shareholders of OJSC “Vyborg Shipyard” decided not to issue additional ordinary shares, thus leaving the number of minority shareholders unchanged. The fact would positively influence the company stock price. OJSC “Vyborg Shipyard” is focused on offshore drilling and production equipment (special floating equipment for offshore fields development). The plant has landed contracts to manufacture drilling platforms for OJSC “Gazprom” for a period through 2011. The total contract value is 59 billion rubles. Also, in 2008, OJSC “Vyborg Shipyard” is to start construction of a new super shipyard to enable the company to build oil tankers and gas carriers with DWT of more than 170 thousand tons (the shipyard will be unique in Russia). According to the company executives and owners, the super shipyard construction will be completed in 2010, and the first vessels will be manufactured during the year 2011 (the Leningrad region government has already provided a site near the port of Primorsk for shipyard construction). This was possible thanks to the preliminary agreement between OJSC “Vyborg Shipyard”, OJSC “Gazprom” and OJSC “Sovkomflot” (it will act as service shipping company). It should be noted that during 2008 the company will take part in Gazprom’s tender for manufacturing of another two drilling rigs for Shtokman field. According to the first deputy chairman of OJSC “Gazprom”, Alexander Ananenkov, Vyborg Shipyard has good chances to win the tender. We know very well that the main owners of OJSC “Vyborg Shipyard” are affiliated with AKB “Russia” and have good lobbying opportunities for getting orders from OJSC “Gazprom”. We have issued a buy recommendation for the company’s shares, fair price of ordinary shares is $1102, privileged shares - $551, the growth potential is 687% and 1152%, respectively, the Unison Kapital analysts said.
