A delegation of OJSC “Gazprom” headed by the company’s chairman of the board, Alexey Miller, visited Azerbaijan today.  The visit included a meeting between Alexey Miller and the president of Azerbaijan, Ilkhan Aliev.   
The parties discussed prospects for development of cooperation between Gazprom and Azerbaijani oil and gas companies.
During the talks, Alexey Miller proposed to buy Azerbaijan’s gas at market prices under a long-term agreement. “As a major hydrocarbon producer in the CIS, Azerbaijan is an objective partner to Russia.   We both have well developed gas transportation infrastructures.  We are interested in development of mutually beneficial cooperation between Gazprom and Azerbaijan in the energy sector”, Alexey Miller said.

Azerbaijan has proven natural gas reserves of  1,5 trillion cubic meters including Shkh-Deniz field located in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian shelf, and recoverable natural gas reserves of 1,3 trillion cubic meters.  The annual natural gas consumption in Azerbaijan is 10-11 billion cubic meters.
