Igor Sechin to take charge of Russia’s industry
Vladimir Putin has announced the composition of the new RF Government. The former presidential aid Igor Shuvalov and former prime minister Viktor Zubkov have been appointed first vice premiers. The former head of the presidential administration Sergey Sobyanin has been appointed chief of the RF government staff as the vice premier, and the former deputy head of the presidential administration Igor Sechin is vice premier in charge of industrial policies. Trade policies will be within the scope of the Ministry of Industry and Trade that is headed by ex-minister of industry and energy Viktor Khristenko. Energy issues will be handled by a special ministry headed the former president of Atomstroyexport Sergey Shmatko. The Federal Agency for Industry (Rosprom) will be closed down. Sergey Ivanov has lost his status as the first vice premier and now occupies the post of deputy head of government.

Igor Sechin was born in Leningrad on September 7, 1960. He graduated from the Leningrad State University. In 1988-1991he worked in the Executive Committee of the Leningrad Soviet of People’s Deputies. In 1991-1996, in the St. Petersburg Mayor’s Office. In 1996-1998, he worked in the Presidential Business Management Department, the Main Presidential Control Department. 1999, chief of staff of the first deputy head of the presidential administration. August 1999, appointed chief of staff to the newly appointed prime minister. 2000, deputy head of the Presidential Administration.
