Schlumberger’s strategic development director to take part in STANDARTNEFTEGAZ-2008




Strategic development director of the world’s major oilfield services provider Schlumberger will take part in the conference “Oil and Gas Equipment Standardization” (STANDARTNEFTEGAZ-2008) that will open in Moscow on May 20. 
Schlumberger has been operating in Russia since 1929. It was the time when the company signed the first contract with the Soviet government for projects in Baku and Grozny.  In 1932,  Schlumberger and the USSR government set up a joint venture that successfully worked for five years and performed more than seven thousand logging operations in wells with a total depth of 1800 kilometers throughout the territory of the Soviet Union  - from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to Baikal and Sakhalin.

Resuming operation in the new Russia in 1991,  Schlumberger was one of the first service providing companies that performed logging in wells of Varyeganskoye and Tagrinskoye fields in West Siberia.  

Today, the list of Schlumberger’s customers includes giants of the Russian and global oil and gas industry such as OJSC “Gazprom”, OJSC  NK “Rosneft”, NK “Lukoil”, NK “Gazpromneft”, TNK-BP, BP, Royal Dutch/Shell, Exxon Mobil, Chevron Texaco, Total, Agip, etc.
