At a press-conference dedicated to the opening of the  third conference “NEFTEGAZSNAB” on March 11, 2008,  vice-president of the Association of Oil and Gas Equipment Manufacturers Elena Loginova pointed to the important role that oil and gas equipment catalogues play, “We know that in the USSR there were special information research institutes that handled publication of technical catalogues and were controlled by branch ministries. Collapse of the management system entailed winding up of the institutes, and the market information support system was destroyed. There are outdated equipment reference books that were published in the past century but still are in use.  Today is the time of active development of oil and gas equipment trading sites.  However, we should understand that trading floor cannot substitute a catalogue offering specifications data of the product and information on the manufacturing company. We have already published the second edition of the catalogue of oil and gas industry  valves and fittings. A drilling equipment catalogue is coming soon. We collect materials for the catalogue of geophysical equipment, catalogue of electrotechnical equipment and catalogue of oil and gas processing equipment. We have revived publishing of oil and gas equipment catalogues, and this is a real contribution in the showdown of achievements of Russian designers, engineers, workmen, managers, manufacturing executives. We would like to address all large companies – join equipment catalogues. It is better than presenting some product brochures  and booklets to your partners. Equipment catalogues are popular in all developed countries, and we do our best to make the catalogue the table-top book for all technical departments and procurement services of oil and gas industry companies”.
