Schlumberger joins Russia’s first geophysical equipment catalogue


Schlumberger, Petro Alliance, Tyumenpromgeofizika and Geofit have joined the first Russian catalogue of geophysical equipment to present their equipment and technology. Schlumberger has been operating in Russia since 1929 when they signed the first contract with the Soviet government to run projects in Baku and Grozny. In 1932, Schlumberger and the USSR government established a joint venture that successfully worked for five years and performed over seven thousand geophysical surveys in wellbores to the total length of 1800 km across the territory of the Soviet Union from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to Baikal and Sakhalin.      
Coming back to Russia in 1991, Schlumberger was the first oilfield services provider to perform geophysical surveys in wells of the Varyeganskoye and Tagrinskoye fields in Western Siberia. 
Today, Schlumberger’s customers are Russian and international oil and gas majors such as OJSC Gazprom, OJSC NK Rosneft, NK LUKOIL, NK Gazprom Neft, TNK-BP, OJSC NOVATEK, BP, Royal Dutch/Shell, Exxon Mobil, Chevron Texaco, Total,  Agip, etc. 
Schlumberger is now present in all oil and gas provinces and owns 50 services bases, research centres and a manufacturing plant.   
 98% of the company’s 13,000 employees in Russia are locals.
Schlumberger works together with more than 50 Russian universities and research institutes to conduct research and search for personnel. 
On April 11, 2007, Nikolay Kudryavtsev, Russian scholar, associate member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, rector of the Moscow University of Physics and Engineering became member of the Board of Directors of Schlumberger Limited, which is composed of 13 members.
