11. Company history and overview of business
Zavodoukovsky Machinebuilding Plant has been operating in the Russian market for 65 years. The plant was established in the town of Zavodoukovks in 1941 on the basis of Aircraft Factory #499 evacuated from Voronezh. During WWII, the plant manufactured jet fighters RM-1 and BI-1, BI-2, BI-3.
In late April 1945, the aircraft factory was reevacuated and moved to Leningrad. Workshops that remained in the town were used to launch a new factory. In 1958-1973 the factory started manufacturing repair cars and spare parts for farm equipment, dump trailers, self-propelled grain cleaners, tractors, fertilizer spreaders.
On 1 December 1989, the plant was renamed to Zavodoukovksy Machinebuilding Plant. The company’s range of products had expanded considerably, the annual output of van-type bodies, including chassis KAMAZ 4310 amounted to 1,5 thsnd.
The company has its own works railway, which allows to reduce delivery time.
In September 1992 ãîäà, the plant started manufacturing portacabins for Arctic use, the current output is 200 portacabins per month. Key buyers are oil producing companies, construction and oil transportation companies, including Gazpromneft, Stroytransgaz, Transneft, Rosneft, TNK-BP, Rospan International, Salym Petroleum Development, Schlumberger and firms from CIS countries: Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Byelorussia, Ukraine, etc.
