11. Company history and overview of business
Uralvagonzavod is a company that has a strong technological and intellectual potential. It is one of Russia’s major research and production companies. In 1970-ies it was included in Guinness Book of World Records as the largest Machinebuilding company in the world.
Today, Uralvagonzavod is one of the most fast growing machinebuilding companies in the country. The range of road construction equipment (crawler and wheeled excavators, all-purpose small-size loaders) now includes batch-produced all-purpose tractor of second class RT-M-160 that is included in the state register of agricultural equipment.
The leader of the cargo carriers market has managed to retain its leading position in the tough competitive environment. In the post-Soviet territories there is no other manufacturer able to make more than 20 thousand vehicles annually. Uralvagonzavod has been selected a strategic partner of OJSC “RZD”.
In 2006, FGUP “PO Uralvagonzavod” is the winner of the competition “Russian High Social Efficiency Organization”.
According to Expert magazine, FGUP “PO Uralvagonzavod” is among top 100 companies of Russia and among the world’s top 100 defense enterprises.

Uralvagonzavod is the major research and manufacturing company that has advanced equipment and a complete manufacturing chain from blanking production and mechanical treatment to comprehensive test of all products. The company has a total floor space of 1 362 775 m², more than 30 thousand machine tools. The company currently comprises metallurgical, car assembly, mechanical, machining, repair facilities, custom equipment production plant, power generation and transportation facilities, repair and construction shop and a consumer commodities production plant in Volchansk. The following civil products are currently manufactured:
